Improve XAML Editor Performance in Visual Studio

Tools Menu > Options > Text Editor > Xaml > Misc
Check “Always open documents in full XAML view”

Also, If you have the ToolBox Tab on screen, close it. Don’t leave it as a closed tab. It will still load up all the controls even if your in XAML view. Closing it should speed up XAML view loading significantly.

  1. This is a great tip and I do the very same too. I kick myself if I leave the toolbox open when I shutdown.

I’ve noticed that the more XAML I’ve written the less I need to see the designer, which doesn’t always work well anyway.
